Drove from AL to TX, cruise on 65 the majority of the time. I had to slow down to 58 to maintain 13mpg on the instant for half of LA though, I swear the whole section of 10 there is uphill headed out west. At 65, the truck was saying 9-11 on the instant. But yet magically once I got through that and in to Texas, I could run 65 again and maintain 12-14 on the instant.

Averaged about 13.5 on the highway, overall about 12.5 but there was some idling and what not. Few stops here and there. The trailer weighed ~4K. Total weight was 9260 on the cat scale.

Realistically for running a heavy 33” “mud” tire, I don’t suppose it could get much better. I bet if I had P rated all seasons, I could have gotten near 15.

I will be taking my travel trailer about the same size across the country Memorial Day weekend. Hope to get the same!

Drive slow lol, that’s the key. I have no doubts I would have averaged ~10 if I had run 70-75 the whole time. And it was relatively flat compared to driving in the NE or NW areas. So hopefully you aren’t climbing any Mountains or else....

I see everyone here getting 13 towing. I’m in Mass and with all the hills I get 14 avg for empty truck. If I was to tow would prolly be like 7

Lol well I was driving slow and trying to maximize it. Don’t get me wrong, my average on the dash stays around 14. And I’m about to drop down to FL tonight, which I’ll be driving 80ish the whole time and probably get 14-15 unloaded.

Like I said if I had run 70-75 with the trailer and let the cruise control drive WOT up every hill it would have been way less. Cruise control is garbage for hills.
