I haven't been able to figure out why the auto stop-start is active or inactive at the times it is. It displays a message that it is deactivated because there is no heating or cooling. That seems like the opposite of what I would expect. Isn't it when there is heating or cooling load that you would want the engine to keep running? It seems like most of the time when we just have the fan on and no heat or cooling, it is not activated and I don't understand the point of that if it is supposed to increase efficiency.

Depends on cabin temp and your temp settings. Once they are equal, auto start/stop comes in to play. Mine has always performed as expected.
