Oil leak from top of motor

Well, this isn't good. There is an oil leak from somewhere up on the top of the motor. It is leaking so bad that there was a puddle under the truck this morning. The oil tracked all the way down the front of the engine and is dripping off just below the front part of the block. Can't see exactly where it is leaking from, but everything up in front of the turbo inlet is covered in oil. Dropping it off tomorrow and will wait and see.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Will be curious to see the fix.

Oil filter housing is prone to crack/leak especially if it's serviced improperly. Hopefully it's something simple like that.

Nope, leak is from the top of the engine. The oil is easily seen around the thermostat housing and in the valley where the turbo is. There is no way a leaking filter would track up to the top of the engine. The oil filter area on the driver's side of the engine is totally dry. Service manager looked at it today when I dropped it off and he has no clue. He's never heard of a leak from this area. So, I'll keep ya all informed.

Welp....got the truck back from the dealership. Here's one for all of you to scratch your heads about. They replaced the intercooler hose that goes into the intake. I know that diesels and gas turbo'ed engines have a bit more blow-by than a normally aspirated engine, but I've only got 2800 miles on this truck. So, there was enough blow-by that caused a puddle of oil to collect in the IC hose as it enters the intake. Mine had a bad O-ring and allowed the oil to leak out, right on top of the motor. The drive belt tossed the oil around, which is what caused my big mess. The dealership swapped out the hose and cleaned it up. No oil leak now.......

I'm at 5400 miles and just walked out this morning to a spot in my garage and a spot of oil in my driveway. Started peaking around and it looks like the lower front of my engine is leaking from somewhere. Sigh...

Did a little more peeking around and found that my harmonic balancer cover is wet and the head where it meets the block on the oil filter side of the engine is also wet.

It's mildly frustrating when you spend $5k UPCHARGE on an engine that's supposed to be 80% new and "fixed" and still end up sending it to the shop for things like this anyhow. Still no word on mine. Maybe later today....

Hey @RamCares , can I make sure the rental vehicle they put me in is covered since they're apparently going to have my truck forever?

Just had a chance to respond to your PM, @WXman!

Hi @Rhombus & @ogor6037 - If it would be of interest, I would be happy to escalate cases on your behalf for further support as you address this concern with your dealer! They can also work alongside your dealer to try and get the parts in as soon as possible.

Lets hope it's a simple fix like a bad hose or clamp.

I'm being told "at least a week" to get parts, and they aren't 100% sure where the leak is coming from yet. I have a feeling I'm going to be without my truck for a long while.
