Has anyone else experienced this? My “leather” seat on Limited Ram (10k miles) started peeling. Any thoughts on the mater?

That is crazy! Have you been using any certain cleaner or conditioner?

It's leather... hopefully just a bad manufacturer batch. That doesn't look like the leather itself coming apart, but whatever top layer was applied in manufacturing.

This is just like those cheap "genuine leather" belts you buy from the department stores made in China. They all peel like that eventually. Genuine leather is the lowest grade of leather where several layers of thin leather are bonded by glue together and then painted to look good. "Top Grain" leather is better than Genuine Leather and "Full Grain" is the best. This is obviously not "Full Grain" leather.

I wouldn't think Weiman would cause it, especially since you pointed out it is isolated in that one area. That area of cracking is probably the most prone area to friction with getting in and out of the seat so I wouldn't be surprised if there are others out there experiencing the same issue. I hope your warranty covers this. Please keep us all updated!

Mine is jacked up as well, not the same, They denied the claim, they send pictures in and somebody decides if its covered or not. I have pictures I can post. I was going to send Ram Kinda Cares a PM and see what they can do. I understand its the edge of the seat and it gets a lot of slide off type wear ,but if It only lasts a year like mine, they need improved materials. I will post pictures of mine later.

Wow...denied under 3-year bumper-to-bumper? That seems lawsuit-worthy.

I had the same issue with the driver's seat. Build 6-18, indigo frost interior. My dealer turned it in for warranty replacement, FCA turned it down. I contacted Ram Care for help, plus my dealer turned it in again. Don't know why FCA changed their mind, but they agreed to replace seat cover under warranty. I get the impression it depends on which agent reviews the claim. Don't give up, have dealer re-submit, contact Ram Care. There are other members on this forum who have had their seat cover replaced for same issue. Good luck.
Great advice, way to go being persistent and letting us know! (y)

Ya bought 6 Ram trucks since 1994 . Denied under warranty ,pretty nice huh? This is a $250 seat cover made out of cheap man made leather type material that doesn’t last a year. It’s the fake grain look on mine getting rubbed off, you can see the “real” leather fiber stuff underneath. I always use leather protectors on mine and have always tried to be easy getting in and out. My previous 09 11 and 13 that I had, which I got in and out of the same way never looked like this. My 13 had 93000 and looked better. These aren’t going to last long term unfortunately. Passenger seat is starting as well and it has half the use. Cheap garbage.

The cover is sitting at the dealer still. Ive worked at a Honda dealer 21 years, seen it all, and this doesn’t need to be approved by anyone and would get replaced no questions asked. That’s customer care after the sale, we even do them as a goodwill type thing after 3/36 with approval. Nothing is questioned 3/36. Honda cares!

Hey do a search of "flaking" and "frost/indigo". You should see a few threads where a few of us were having the same problem. Mine is also a 6/18 build and I had it on front passenger and rear driver side and both rear headrests.

Dealer got all of my covers replaced once RamCares jumped in. I still think the replacement covers have a thicker feel to them. The fronts were replaced back before the end of the year and I've not had any problems since.

Oh btw, mine were also denied under warranty but approved as a good will thing. It did take a little bickering because they initially accused me of somehow scratching them with my suits and jeans.

...initially accused me of somehow scratching them with my suits and jeans.

WTF was their initial recommended attire for someone driving this vehicle so the seats don’t get damaged?

That's what I said. They have to acknowledge they sent out a bad batch of leather.

Thanks all. I will be taking a trip to the dealer. I’ll post an update as to what they said. Hopefully, the are receptive and don’t have to get Ram Care involved.

Going to be honest here and probably get flamed but I have yet to see a drivers seat entrance leather area hold up to constant pounding on entrance and exit regardless of make. I recently got the Ram step sides installed knowing what will happen if I didn't avoid running my 228 lb butt over the same area getting in the truck. This can be proven by the area showing the wear. Be nice if FCA would allow the claim though.
