So I'm getting ready to refinance (going from 5.99% to 1.99%} and luckily I'm within 90 days of purchase because I'd be out of luck. Msrp on my truck was $65,065 as seen in the first picture. Blue book value is $48,535, $16,530 lost value in less than 30 days later.

No I didn't pay MSRP, and I know you lose value as soon as you drive off the lot.

Good thing I plan on keeping this for a long time.

It only lost that much value if you paid MSRP (and I sure hope you didn't).

No, didn't pay msrp, but you find this truck for under $55k

I paid $60k with the lift, wheels and tires, before rebates.

Yeah the hit on the Rams is staggering. I think it has the largest initial depreciation of any truck out there.

Glad you like what you drive. That will help swallow that pill a little easier.

Thats actually not a bad price for the tires, wheels, and lift. The problem is that they will never make a difference in the bottom dollar value of the truck. You would definitely have to find the right buyer to get some money back out of those extras. Hopefully you will own it for a long time where it wont make a difference.

That's the plan. My family is in love with the truck, so I'm all good as long as I can get it refinanced lol

On 65 should have paid around 54 or less. That puts the initial depreciation at about 6k. That's in line with what I'd expect and seems reaaonable.

Certainly not something to get worked up about. We all know buying brand new is financially irresponsible. Gotta pay that extra new car smell fee.

No offense - never got the mod thing . Trucks are expensive enough off the lot and then folks spend a ton of money on things few others want (including dealers at trade time) just to look different.

I was very surprised!! glad I only paid 51500 for it. so I essentially lost 3500 plus tax , title and fees. I'm Glad ill be keeping TROY (name of my new rebel) for a while. Love TROY a lot!.

Same with all models. I just traded our 15 Yukon Denali for a 20 Denali and only got 30k trade allowance (KBB $27000) with 103k miles. The 15 MSRP’d for $71k. If Ram will ever come with their full size SUV, I’ll go that route.

you didnt pay MSRP so why bring the MSRP number into it?

bought my 67.5k MSRP for 50k before TTL, resale value sounds fine to me if you got your 65k valued at 48k. Got lucky with the 15% extra off MSRP rebate

In reality that’s always the case with a new vehicle. That’s why you would be never trade in within a year of buying a new one. All cars loose a ton the minute you take it off the lot. Trucks in general have excellent resale value and the longer you own it, the better the numbers look. For example. My last truck was a 2010 Ram. Sticker was 45k, I paid 38 out the door. 9.5 years later, I sold the truck for $16,500. In total, this averaged out to under $200/mo. If this was a car or a luxury suv, I would of lost way more. You cannot judge resale value until you actually own it for awhile.

Click Bait. Please change the title. You didn't pay MSRP and the $5500 of mods add $0 value to anyone except possibly a private party buyer who happens to like what you like, even then you get pennies on the dollar invested. It appears that you lost $6k in depreciation plus the cost of your customizations in your first year which should be expected and doesn't make for horrible resale value. I intentionally bought my Ram 6 month used so that I did not have to pay that initial new car depreciation, which was significantly more than $6k for the previous owner of my truck. 6 months/6,000 miles later, KBB/NADA trade in value is still higher than I paid out the door after taxes, etc. I know that any customizations I do will add very little value to the truck, which is why I hang on to the stock parts so that I can return it back to stock when the time comes and sell the custom parts separately to recoup at least some of the investment.

This also shows why you never trade or sell any NEW Vehicle, Boat, or RV within the first 3 years... Unless you like to lease for an expensive price tag because you have too much money on your hands! :ROFLMAO:

If you are concerned about the resale value this soon you should have bought used. IMO, when you buy a new vehicle, you have to be in the mindset that you are going to keep it for a long time...or at least until the resale levels off.

I put on about 10k-12k miles a year andI intend to keep mine 8-10 years, as I do with most vehicles.
