Anyone have any tips on how to smack this sucker back on without having to disassemble everything? Maybe a bad clip blocking it from going all the way?

The safest way I can think of would be to unclamp and slide the boot towards the outer cv joint (exposing the inner metal cup), then using a deadblow hammer to tap it back on. It could also be pried on at that point instead of hammering. I think the best way would be to remove it from the hub, clean the rust off the inner splines, squirt the splines with a penetrating lube, and slide the axle back on.
