So I found these two cables behind my radio, does anyone know what their for?
They were factory taped to the wire harness.

Do you recall if there was one more loose connector laying around, probably more towards under the front of the center console area? DAA4750E-ABF9-40AF-9B5D-7B7FDE4C63C5.jpeg

Yes I did see a couple of extra plugs above the shifter area.

Sorry, I meant more towards the glovebox (area circled in blue). If you can’t recall, no big deal- E419574E-DF44-4125-95C5-5D9FCEFA4275.jpeg

That one would be for the reverse trailer steering module. I was about to custom build that harness for another member to add the feature, but may not be necessary now.

Can I add this feature to my 19'?
I have the button already from when I replaced the radio...

I’m gonna say I doubt it. The fact that 2019-2020 DTs can’t get the trailer TPMS, digital rear view mirror, or AUX switches to work, probably not this feature either. There isn’t even a way to enable it with AlfaOBD, yet, so we’re just waiting for an update on that capability too.

Why do auto makers run cables/plugs/etc for options a vehicle doesn't have? Cheaper to do that instead of changing production machines to remove cables/plugs/etc?

Installing wiring harnesses with leads and plugs for uninstalled options provides the following advantages during production:

1. It limits the different types of harnesses that have to be produced. There might be a cost savings to produce 3 to 4 different harnesses for a specific application. But, let's say that there are 10 different independent options that could possibly be serviced by a single wiring harness. If a different harness was produced for every collective option choice possible, we would need to produce 1024 different harnesses. So it's easier and often cheaper just to produce just one or a few harnesses knowing that some leads and plugs will not be used.

2. Having one harness with most potentially-required leads and plugs in it allows for greater flexibility further down the assembly line. That way, chassis pre-wired for most options can be fitted as needed later in production.

There are likely other advantages as well such as ease of dealer-installed options.
