This should help users search the forum by knowing some rules the search engine accepts.
Where is the search located?
It is at the top in the menu bar on the far right of the screen.
What are the ways to search?
Search by......... example
keyword ... brakes
Two words .. "rear brakes"
Inclusive .. "rear brakes" +squealing
Exclusive .. "rear brakes" -Limited
Both .. "rear brakes" +squealing -limited
Short words .. FAQ*
Another example:
"big horn" +"eco*" -ecodiesel -"eco diesel"
Two words need quotes.
The keyword following a +/- should not have a space after the +/-.
The +/- searches seem to work better with quotes.
The * is a wildcard search. The eco search above would return results with words such as economy and ecodiesel
The advance search gives you more options, but the same rules apply.
You can also use a site like Google to search the forum. For example, if you want to search for brakes - in Google type:
brakes site:5thgenrams.com
There may be more rules. These are the ones I've found by playing with the search. If anyone know more I can add them to the list.
