Folks,

I'm in the midst of helping a coworker install the Mopar power steps on his 5th Gen, and something just seems off about the way the driver's side is folding. Backstory, we actually installed all the electrical last weekend and he got the sales code flashed today. Yeah, backwards maybe, but he had PPF installed this week on the rockers, and I'm the mechanically inclined friend who we be out of town for the next 6 weeks. So crunch time! Bolting up the steps tonight, and the driver's side doesn't tuck when retracted as I would expect or recollect. Of course, both dealers around these parts have no trucks on the lot with them to compare (just froze our backsides off looking). I see no reason why it wouldn't be the same as the passenger side, and I really think there's a clocking issue with the motor for the driver's step.

Could I ask some to take a few pictures of their factory power step on the driver's side as retracted and post? Straight at the power step from the side of the truck at rocker level; looking down the power step from the front of the rear of it; and, any mid-angle that shows any gap to the rocker and body lip.

THANKS!!!

I tried to get a good picture of both sides. The angle may make them look different but they are the same on both sides and the max gap is estimated at less than 1/2 inch. Dark here as well so I used a flashlight CF8A0E6B-B939-4EE2-90AA-0DA1BF104CC3.jpeg 5B7F8878-4002-4DD2-9E1F-A9865BEDF6FA.jpeg 7BC231C5-A3C0-41CA-9D83-FEA16E2BBB0A.jpeg CF8A0E6B-B939-4EE2-90AA-0DA1BF104CC3.jpeg 5B7F8878-4002-4DD2-9E1F-A9865BEDF6FA.jpeg 7BC231C5-A3C0-41CA-9D83-FEA16E2BBB0A.jpeg

Thanks!

There is definitely an issue with the driver's side clocking of the motor as it's not tucking tightly like that. Appreciate the assistance!

Thanks all! We played with it a bit more and we could hear and feel a distinct "clunk" in the driver side motor compared to the passenger. Right at the clunk, the step stops leaving it almost parallel to the ground, instead of angled with the rocker, such that a golf ball can fit between the step and rocker.
