Hello,

Long time listener, first time caller... This is my first kick at the Ram can. I’ve had 3 F150’s (‘14, ‘16, ‘18) and have now been in my ‘19 Ram Limited for about 5 months and love it so far!

One thing I was a little upset about was that no one makes a rack to work with Ramboxes and a box cover...So I had one built! I had the Thule Xporter on the F150 and used the cross bars and bike mounts from it on the new one. I have Bak Flip hard cover that still works seamlessly as well have access to the amazing ramboxes and track tie down system.

Let me know what you think.

How exactly is that mounted? Is it there permanently?

Hi Ellisstrong,

It is fully removable. Brackets mount behind the OEM Track with existing nut-certs. I replaced all 10 grade 5 bolts with grade 8 extended bolts. We built an extension on the front bracket that sits on the front bulkhead which is bolted down with 1/2” bolts. When all tightened up it is solid! Took it on some super rough roads with a few bikes attached and it didn’t budge.

Very nicely done, congratulations. Are you going to go into production and start selling them?
.
If not, will you take some closeups of the front & rear mounts with the tonneau cover open?
.
Thanks!

Popp - this is awesome!

Would you mind posting some closeups of the front and rear mounts showing how/where they are bolted down? And/or photos of the brackets before you installed the frame?

Hey Popp,

That is exactly what I've been envisioning. Great work. Along with the other commentors I too would love to see some close ups of the connections to the truck both front and back and to understand what some of the challenges might have been.

Appreciate your time and effort!!

I am digging this thing! I don't even transport anything that I would need this for, but I want one. Great job on the modifications to make this work!

Yes, Popp...please post pics of how you mounted them.

Also, what rims are those? And are you on air suspension? If so, is that just the entry position or did you lower the truck?

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for late reply, not on here much. Here are some pictures of the rack while being built as well as close ups of mounts. My partner is willing to make more at whatever height/modifications you’d like. Just the racks without Thule cross bars would be about $500 (powdercoted) Thule bars were about $250 (can’t remember as it was originally on from a Xporter. We could build our on cross bars if using for ladders or canoes etc. But Thule, Yakima etc bars would be best for accessories like ski/bike racks.

Just got back from our second long distance (200mile) trip with 5 bikes attached. Rack doesn’t budge!

Yea it ain't cheap, pricey but it's hand made in the USA so it's going to cost more

I feel like the market must not be there for people to have a bed rack and a tonneau cover combination as I cant find them anywhere. I'd like a secured bed with a rack.

Apparently the MFT is a dealbreaker for people and since I dont have the ramboxes I'm just SOL.

I’m definitely going to have this built. Do you have dimensions of the steel brackets and the gauge of steel used?

I had a custom rack built similar to the one posted on this feed. If only I could find a soft topper that fits within the rack and mounts to stock aluminum brackets

Still willing to make/sell this type of rack? This is exactly what I’m looking for.
