Break Controller Registering With No Trailer Attached

Can anyone else tell me if their brake controller is still measuring brake input even when a trailer is disconnected? I do not remember this happening in my last Ram, 2011.

Can anyone else tell me if their brake controller is still measuring brake input even when a trailer is disconnected? I do not remember this happening in my last Ram, 2011.

Mine works and displays the brake % without a trailer. Manual levers "work" as well.

Yeah lol
I just picked up my new travel trailer today and was worried they wouldn't work but they're good. Just weird we don't get that message.
