I’ve had my 22 Ram 1500 for less than 24 hours now. I have less than 60 miles on it. Earlier today it changed several of my presets. Then, it would not boot up on acc or run. Did a soft reboot, and nothing. Did a system reset, and it worked. Programmed my phone, reset all my presets (again) and adjusted the equalizer. It still does not work on acc or run. It seems to work if the truck is running. During the resetting process, it gave me a Uconnect box error. Did I buy a huge pile of crap?

Language majors might call this an "unclear antecedent", but it seems the "it" you are referring to may be the radio and/or nav system. So give it a few days and miles of clear sky to see if it can download info and updates it may want from the satellite network, and if it still doesn't work make the dealer fix it. As for the last question, you bought a huge pile of technology which among other things may behave like a decent pickup truck, and other functions may vary in quality depending on which Elbonian wrote the software.

BTW welcome to the group! There's a pretty good bunch of people on here who will share whatever knowledge we have (which also may vary in quality);).

You have a 2022 with Uconnect5 which, right now has known bugs. If it continues on, take it to dealer and see if there are any updates for the radio. There have been several revisions for Uconnect5 during the production run

I mean if we're going to be picky, this is the 8.4 Inch UConnect 5 System (2022+) sub-forum so the "it" is self evident.

My "it" has been perfect so far. No issues with presets, booting, or carplay. It blows the doors off the POS in our 2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT.

I lemon-lawed a beautiful 2020 Longhorn with the 12" display that was plagued with issues. I also hated operating basic functions on a touch screen while driving. I then got a 2022 Laramie ( only way I could get the premium sound with a 8.4) that has had constant problems and even had the entire radio system replaced.......love these trucks but the software is a smoking pile..........have you tried hopping up and down on one leg while swinging a dead chicken over your head???...............(clockwise)...........

When you bought the 2022, you got into a whole new slew of software issues with the first year of uconnect5, and still having lots of bugs to work out.

After they replaced the system (on the 22) the system will turn the radio on every time I start the vehicle regardless of the previous audio setting. The dealer is at a loss as to why. I also dont understand the logic of turning the radio off and the screen goes black even though there is a turn display off feature. I'm about to do open dash surgery with an ice pick.......

I think the idea behind that is that you might want to leave music playing but turn off display so it doesn't blind you for night driving.

That does make sense but there still seems to be no way to just turn the audio off. My issue is I have all my music on a flash drive and dont listen to anything else. To keep from burning the flash drive up I'll have the drive in slot 1 and turn the source to slot 2 when I dont want hear music. This defeats the music. However when I shut the truck off and get back in later and turn it on the radio starts playing. I have turned all the settings to off/last source but it continues to play the radio.

You can turn the volume all the way down, and it should remember that. And your flash drive will always get power, but I think there is a setting called "autoplay" that can be turned off to stop it from automatically accessing the contents, maybe that will help if you can find it.

I have a 19 system issue. I was having several problems around 30000miles, the infotainment center periodically would return to ancient heat and radio settings, and it would click but not turn over. I know the simple solution, however I checked the battery charge at was still doing the same thing. 3 or 4 times click and no start. So I brought it into the dealership and had them push an update to my infotainment system, all of the sudden the click and no start as they called it went away like a fart in the wind but so did my navigation system. So now it just says loading. I take it back again, I'll be cold smacked if they didn't tell me I need to buy a new "radio" because they aren't an electronics shop...I have had this new to me truck for almost a year and frankly only put 8000 miles on the truck. I bought the thing with 25000ish miles on it and now at 33000ish miles I am all of the sudden the guilty party for the first 25000 miles...ok I get it, let me vent a little. I know what the deal is but do they purposely hire dumb **** contract writers to get you pissed off about things that are already frustrating enough?!?

Hmmm that I've never heard of. I've been using the same USB thumb drive through two Jeeps and my RAM (6 years and counting), leave it plugged in unless I'm adding songs, and I hardly ever listen to the radio. Flash drives do wear out after a while, but I've always read their longevity is based on the number of writes, not the number of reads.

This is the first I've heard of this. I left the same thumb drive in my Charger for 6 years and it worked as well when I traded the vehicle as the day I first put it in the hub. I never took it out the entire time.

Hello,
I'm new to the site as well as RAM. I am having an issue with the Uconnect 5 (8.4 no nav ) in my 2022 Laramie. Here's the issue. When tapping the voice command button on the steering wheel, it goes directly to Android Auto. This does not allow me to perform any of the basic vehicle functions such as audio and climate settings. The radio unit has been replaced under warranty, but this problem is still there. If there is no phone connected, a message appears on the screen saying a phone must be connected for voice commands. The dealer has confirmed this. My dealer is saying that they don't think the truck has the capability to do this and will only work with Android Auto. I've spoken with FCA and a Uconnect specialist 3 times now and they are adamant that the vehicle should definitely be able to respond to the voice commands separate from Android Auto. We've tried a full system reset 3 times now and there is still no change.
Any ideas?

Have they tried replacing the steering wheel controls?

Hi,
Thanks for the response! I suggested this to the FCA Customer Care rep and he thought it was a possibility. I shared the ides with my service rep at the dealership and he didn't think that was the issue. I'm now dealing with the service manager directly and this is something I'll bring up to him. I'm glad you jogged my memory on that!
Thanks again.
