I’m looking to sell/trade my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 with many options and have been getting a wide range of trade in offers in Houston,TX. Any recommendations as to the best dealer/company to get the best offer? I’ve tried KBB, Carmax, give me the vin, and a few others. KBB trade in average is $43,500 and it only has 31k miles in excellent condition. I have a company 22 Ram 1500 and don’t need 2 trucks.

there really is no best place, it all depends on the dealer, the sales person you are dealing with, and many other variables. I traded my 21 into carmax before my 22 was done being built, they offered me what carfax had the truck valued at. Several online car sites valued the truck almost $5k-7K less. Carmax was the most. may be different for others though.

Run it through all of them Carvana, Car Max, Autonation etc . You might have to be patient and check them every other week or so. I think they base their offers on inventory i know last year went through this process when I was looking to take advantage and sell my spare vehicle my Charger RT. I would check Carmax every other week and offers would either increase or decrease. Check with KBB and get a price in mind then figure out what number your comfortable with letting it go for. Don’t be greedy thinking it’s a 1 of 1 vehicle now lol. I preferred Carmax since it’s was rather hassle free, abs light on from a bad hub wiring and it didn’t effect the offer and I got a check on the spot versus waiting for a truck to pick it up and then an electronic transfer some days/weeks later no thank you. Autonation IMO seems to offer better if your trading it in to them versus just selling which wasn’t the case with me since I already had my truck purchased.

Thanks for the responses. I took the truck into 4 dealerships today and so far the highest offer is $40,750. I had hoped to get a few thousand more. I’ll give it a few days and see if I’m able to sell it on FB marketplace if not I’ll likely sell it to the highest offer.

Try shift.com. They have given me the highest off for my last tow vehicles. Otherwise, you can sell it yourself. I did that with my gladiator and got 3k more than my highest offer from dealers and the online companies. I sold my wife’s car to shift. It was a great experience.

I'm in the same scenario, having recently gotten a company truck that I can take home. For my 2020 Bighorn Hemi 4x4 with 16k miles, offers have been in the $29-33k range. I also have it for sale privately, but haven't received a single serious inquiry. Your offer for $40,750 actually seems pretty strong to me. Resale values have fallen considerably over the last couple months.
