I’m trying to order two options for a custom build 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn. Blind spot and Cross path detection and the second is the LED front/rear/fog light option. I can add these options on the build site but the dealership is saying the options can’t be ordered and they don’t know why, possibly a chip shortage….ok. When I ask if these options can be installed once the parts become available it’s a hard NO but they can’t explain why. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure why they can't order them, but it could be because of the chip shortage. Those can be added after, but not by the dealership. You would have to do it. Plenty of people on here have added these options themselves. Just know that none of that would be covered under warranty. Dealerships only have very limited options they can install after a truck leaves the factory.

Still can’t get any answers out of my local dealership here in California. You mention these options can be ordered “after purchase”, would I contact the local dealer parts department to order these options or go with an after market solution? If it’s too much of a hassle I may have to resort to waiting and custom ordering a 2023 model.

Maybe a Canadian thing, when I ordered my Laramie, there were a bunch of options that are "available" online but when I actually went to a dealership they were unable to add a bunch of them. Specifically, Bed Utility Group, Advanced Safety Group, Tech Group were all unavailable to order. When the sales guy went to the managers office or whereever they actually go to create/place the order, he said he could see all the packages, but they were "on Restriction". Similar story if I wanted a Rebel, but the Pano Moon Roof and HK system were also "on restriction".

ended up placing my order with the instructions to the sales guy if any of the packages mentioned above, he was to add them to my order if not too late.

I just ordered a Big Horn, 2022. My dealer said the same: the LED and BSM are reserved for Laramie and up.

I'll probably go aftermarket for LEDs.

Must be due to the chip shortage, I know I ordered my BH with both BSM and and LED lights back in 2019. A Big horn with those options is pretty close to Laramie pricing so it might be worth while to just order a laramie then have to mess with installing them after the fact. I prefer cloth seats only reason I went big horn.

Dual pane pano was greyed out when I ordered. Was able to add a few weeks later when I inquired the dealer. Push them.

Thanks again for the feedback, ended up cancelling the BH order and bumped up to the Laramie G/T Night package, time to sit back and wait.
