I was playing in the ice/slush on my drive way, I turned the traction control off, and was trying to climb a small hill in 2wd. It melted thru and when I went to enable 4wd to get out it was disabled and it wouldn’t enable traction either. Basically said had antilock error. Left with one wheel spinning and stuck in a 2” of slush.
I love this truck but this is almost a deal breaker… I used my 77 k20 to pull it out, and then was able to drive the ram 30’ to clear the warnings. Now it’s all back to normal.
This all seems completely crazy that that error doesn’t come with a manual override to allow one to get 4wd enabled enough to get unstuck. Not sure what would’ve happened if I’d been out on a hwy stuck in an emergency. If anyone knows a solution I’m all ears.

Ha, the solution is to keep and drive the K20 in winter maybe...
Sure liked my 79' K10 for snow. Lock the hubs and go, with 300# of sandbags in the bed too.

Were you trying to engage 4WD while the wheels were possibly still spinning? Did you try Auto or 4WD H?
Assuming you put it in park and tried to put it in 4WD?

I haven’t had this problem, but I’ve only put it in 4wd Auto at speed, and I’m 100% certain the rear tires weren’t spinning free when I did.
The very few times I put it in 4wd H, I did so before taking it out of park.
Just wondering the state of the vehicle when you tried…and if you tried to put traction control back on, then 4WD or what?

How did you "turn off?" There's 2 levels of off. If you long press the button at a full stop for 5-6 seconds , you'll shut it off completely.

FYI, you'll get better answers on the sister site hdrams.com, this is the 1500 5th Gen crowd here and few understand much about the 4th gen and older HD's. You have a 4th gen (technically by platform code) but we like to say "4.5 gen" HD.

Does the truck have LSD? It's an option on 2500's unless you have a rebel or PW with lockers. Standard LSD on 3500's.

HD's don't have auto 4WD.

it sounds like you were trying to get stuck and you succeeded LOL. but that would suck in an emergency.

HD..gotcha, missed the 2500 part. Typically they get moved the the HD Forum..my bad.
