12 volt power from near rear view mirror?

Has anyone tapped into 12V power from the area at the top of the windshield near the rear view mirror? I'm sure there is switched power in that big, black box with the cameras and such inside, but would love some assistance on how to get it open without breaking something.

Look into This thread, it should give some ideal how to remove and which wire need tap into, i did mine for radar detector.
