I have the 2020 Ram 1500 Limited with 1500 miles on it. I have an issue with the 12 inch screen not responding to touch after starting vehicle. After driving for 10-15 minutes, the screen magically starts responding to touch. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thank you in advance for your helpful responses.

I would take it up to the dealer and have them take a look. Possibly, they will need to flash the drive/update software.

Try a hard reset on the system... take the Ucconect fuse out for about 30min and try it again later, it might take a few more minutes and key cycles to get all the features back on the screen(Comm initiation)

Hi
Please let us know via private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this. We would like to have this documented and have a case escalated on your behalf so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution.

My vehicle has been taken to the dealer May 22, 2020. The dealer said they could not duplicate the problem after a radio update recall. I have another appointment May 28,2020 for the same issue. I currently have 1,600 miles on my vehicle.

Did you try soft reset ? Hold down the two hard buttons on both sides of the screen (see picture below) for 10-15 seconds

Also, owners manual says Fuse #44 is for radio.
If you can't find it, you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes and that would have the same effect.

I had the same issue with my truck a few times with around 400 KM on it. Brought it to the dealer, they did a radio update and it hasn't happened again since. Its only been a few weeks though , so hopefully that fixed the problem.

There have been a ton of problems with those 12 inch screens. I read a lot of reviews b4 buying my truck. Basically, stay away from the big screen, the diesel, & the air suspension. All 3 have been plagued with problems. Otherwise Ram has been making a descent truck.

UPDATE: since my initial post on the radio screen not responding, I have taken my truck to the dealer 3 times with the radio being replaced June 26th. As soon as I got it home and let the truck sit for a while, it’s doing the same thing. Radio touch screen not responding for 5-15 after startup.

During the appointment on May 28, dealer ordered radio. The dealer installed the radio. Got home. Experiencing same issues.

I would like to open a case for you and get you to a Uconnect specialist. If you'd like, please send us your VIN, email, phone number, and mileage in a private message to get started.

I am running into the same issue with the touch screen as guys are. It makes no sense when the touch screen decides to work or not. This is pretty ridiculous that Ram is unable to fix the issue. I have been taking my vehicle in for service since March of this year with no luck. The dealer is going to replace a radio as the next step, but they are back ordered until mid October. I have already created a case with RAM and just waiting that one day my RAM 1500 Limited will work.

There's a ground under the center console. you can slide it back after removing 6 bolts 2 by the dash and 4 behind the squares. Disconnect the battery. Touch both neg and pos terminals together ( the cables not the battery ) while you go work for 15 mins ( recommended as this force can bus reset ). Pull the console back and clean up that ground and check the ground in the engine bay, 3 on driver side especially. Make sure there's no paint on the grounds, metal on shiny metal, use a wire bush and shiny them up good. Also open the relay box in front of the battery and FIRMLY press everything in the down and make sure nothing is coming loose. several of the "tall" ones around the edges are spares. Note any loose ones and look at the lid to see which system the went to.

Put it back together and reconnect the battery and hopefully you have a happy truck. It may take a few minutes for the radio to fully reset and all your controls to reboot and appear. The warning messages will go away after a short drive.
