I bought a Fibrobec E-Sport which is (i think) a rebranded A.R.E. CX. The 2 companies are somehow related (maybe Fibrobec makes A.R.E. toppers under license?)
Below CAD$2700 including a top rack and 15% taxes. (around USD$2000)
Just ordered 18" OEM wheels for my winter tires. I always run 2 sets of wheels; one for summer tires, one for winter tires. This way I don't need to go to the shop to have them swapped, and it protects the tire beads from frequent install/deinstall abuse. It's the first time I get a second set...
Well, FYI I just made a small trip with my truck (see description in my sig.). My city average (in very poor conditions; heavy construction and bumper-to-bumper traffic), I still get 13.6l/100Km (17.3 US MPG or 20.8 UK MPG) on a brand-new truck. The trip I made was a 252Km highway circuit...
Bought a Fibrobec cap today (rebranded ARE as far as I know) and went to Ziebart for a diamond gloss shine. Now I'll start shopping for winter rims and tires.
I know, I have to paint the house's steel siding :-D
Would a "no spill drain plug" help? About the filter; not much can be done IMHO, apart from devising some sort of funnel to help in reducing splashes...
"Is there a way to get a positive service experience anywhere?"
Recipe:
- Live in a small village in a remote area.
- Go to school with future dealership owners (who are the sons of the local blacksmith/tractor shop's owner).
- become a teacher and teach all of their kids.
My mother did all of...
Not much, but I received my front and rear Weathertech mudflaps (and installed them in less than 30 minutes). Super easy; just grab a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 8mm socket and a fork (body clip tool?) to pull out the plastic plug that holds the front rock panels in place.
Yeouch! Decades ago the province of Quebec was home to a lot of 3-tone cars (paint, rust and see-through) but nowadays every spring "Opération Minoune " (trans: "Operation Rustbucket") removes these from the road. This one wouldn't pass inspection.
Well, just found that Cummins is working on similar engines with Achates for the military; so the idea of having such an engine in a RAM might not be as far fetched as I first figured.
For those not in the know, Janes publishing group is the nearest thing to a civilian intelligence agency.
The Achates engine seems promising (that said, many engine makers said this...) The engine can be designed as a diesel burning engine or as a compression-ignition gasoline engine too. The gas version could yield 270hp/480ft-lb at around 37mpg (which sounds impressive). They said the diesel...
Well, regarding back-up lights, you could add a VLEDS LPR (led bar on top of the license plate). It will cost far less than change the complete set (lenses). That's what I did.
Installed a VLEDs back-up light on the license plate (called Vleds LPR I guess); no mess and no fuss as I followed the indications in a thread here on 5thgenrams. Now shopping for a cap for the bed, and looking at tires/rims for next winter.
This is what I meant; had fun making it.
This way the VLEDs aren't modified, with the KURT 5-way T my truck's wiring is not modified, and the KURT harness itself is not modified.
Edit: to know which wire was positive and which was negative, I connected the extension to the VLEDs and used a...
After installing my CURT connector I annotated your pic:
The only thing I'll do different from you is that I'll use a 5-pin trailer adapter plugged in the end of the CURT connector, with soldered/shrink wrapped connections to the long extension wire provided with the VLEDS. I'll snap a pic...
Hurray! Got mine today!
Ordered: 2019-02-15
Received at the local (rail?) depot: 2019-04-10
Delivered to the dealer on 2019-04-29
delivered to me on 2019-05-03.
Good news: my chromed tow mirrors have the "heated" logo (no power folding for those who are intrigued).
I also got 2 USB outlets on...
I just read about an inquiry being made about the Nissan Rogue for the same reasons; forward collision avoidance system braking for no apparent reason. IMHO FCA will be next in line, and won't be alone in the queue.
