Tired of exhaust drone? Get a J-Pipe

Did you use a hole saw to tap into your main pipe? Was it just a simple bimetal hole saw? or did you get carbide tipped? What kind of pipe did you use? I'm guessing 16 GA 304 stainless? In my research, many examples I see of j-pipes people end up using pipe the next size smaller (so like 2.5" in...

At what RPM does your aftermarket exhaust drone?

Didn't mean to give you a complex! Besides, I'd bet that the dampening effect spans a range of frequency.. I can't figure out how wide that band is, or what influences it, but I know my drone comes on about 1500-1700 RPM which is about 92-120 Hz. I was shooting for a center of about 105 Hz and...

At what RPM does your aftermarket exhaust drone?

I've been looking into this. What exhaust temp did you use to calc the length? 240 degrees? How did you arrive at that? I was figuring that it would be closer to 400 degrees which makes the length 42.5"

At what RPM does your aftermarket exhaust drone?

Did you go from stock to this? How is it cruising from 1500-1800 rpm on the highway?

Tired of exhaust drone? Get a J-Pipe

That makes sense.. I still have that resonator in place.. I wonder if there's still enough room for the Jpipe with that still there? I have a simple welded in magnaflow, so I'd have to make a cut to get that section of pipe out. I know you said that you based your speed of sound on 170 degrees...

Tired of exhaust drone? Get a J-Pipe

This is awesome! Thanks for taking the time to write this up! Maybe I missed it.. did you take your pipe off to cut the hole in the side? Or did you leave it in the truck? I would assume you are right, that it doesn't matter much what muffler you run, it's the total length of the exhaust that...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Pretty sure we were maxed out. The trailer was probably pushing 8000 all loaded up. It's a 29.5 foot plus hitch. This was a pretty good tug with a 20 mph head/side wind on a 98 degree day. It was a handful with a 4 point distribution hitch even. I'm wondering if timbren stops would help...

Hi everyone, this is Matt from B2 Fabrication

I h I have all 3 resonators in place, and no, the resonance I'm complaining about isn't when MDS kicks in . Drone or resonance is a product of the tuning length of the exhaust, and there will be a peak in the sound (DB) at the RPM where that tuning length is. Diameter and resonant chambers...

Hi everyone, this is Matt from B2 Fabrication

I have the oval muffler and find that it's by far the loudest when under a load from 1400-1800 RPM. Is the delete different? I'm hoping to change to something that doesn't resonate at that RPM (highway cruising speed)

what RPM does a muffler delete drone at?

    Getting a Muffler Delete

I went with a 14" magnaflow and get a good bit of resonance (drone) from 1400-1900 RPM. I'm sure that the muffler delete has some drone as well, can anyone comment what RPM it drones at? I'm fine with drone below that, or over that. I just don't want it from 65-75 mph

    To delete resonators or not?

yeah, there's a resonance with mds off around that RPM

    To delete resonators or not?

I have a 14-in MagnaFlow, with stock resonators, And I get quite a bit of drone from 1,500 to 2,000 RPM. I'm wondering if I took off the stock resonators on the rear if that would cure some of that drone. I'm okay with a little bit louder, as long as that drone is reduced in that range. Does...

    Door adjustment

They are going to take a door off a new truck on the lot and swap me out so I don't have to deal with paint issues. Glad they are doing the right thing. Moral of the story? don't let a mechanic fix your alignment. Request that the body shop handle the job.

    Door adjustment

It makes you wonder how many they "repaired” with the same process. I should be getting a call on Monday from the service department manager. I told them they'd be replacing my door. My guess is they'll want to take it to the body shop Dolly that out, Bondo and repaint the door. Sent from my...

    Door adjustment

Forgot to show the damage. You can see the bend line. Thing is, he didn't even touch the hinges. I saw him adjust the striker, then started riffing on the edge with his wood block. Sent from my SM-G973U1 using Tapatalk

I just watched my dealer take a 2x4 wrapped in a rag to bend the bottom of my door in.. really? He didn't even try to adjust the hinge. What would you guys do? Sent from my SM-G973U1 using Tapatalk
