I think you're doing pretty well. I've been pulling an 18 foot Hurricane deck boat around this summer and I averaged about 11 MPG. It's a little bit heavier (at 5000 lb) but it's also a bit more aerodynamic than the party barge. Wind resistance adds drag very quickly, specially at freeway speed...
I finally got a chance to put a trailer behind my new Ram this week. The truck ran great and pulled just as expected. The trailer was a 27' car hauler that has been converted into a parade float.
The only thing I noticed was that after hooking up the 7 pin connection and testing the lights...
It's a 1/16 scale model of the USS Columbus (SSN-762), a Los Angeles class attack submarine. The submarine veterans group I belong to owns it and uses it for parades. As the guy with a nice new truck I got tapped for pulling duty this morning.
Picked up my Mopar hard tri-fold tonneau and got it installed last night. I'll probably have to fiddle with the latches a little bit, but I've got it working pretty well. I'll let it sit for a few days then adjust from there. I live relatively close to BAMWholesaleParts.com, so I was able to...
At the end of the day, it all comes down to individual driving style. Where you live, how many miles you drive, hauling, towing, etc.
Given your driving style you'd be silly to get anything but 3.21's.
So far I've got about 700 miles on my Ram. I'm getting around 14-16 MPG in town and about 18-19 MPG on the highway. A good friend of mine has an almost identical truck, except he has 3.21 gears. His highway mileage is floating around 20 MPG. I'm happy with my decision to get 3.92 gears as I plan...
Here's the first info post I found: https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/front-tow-pull-hook-install-and-mod-3-hours-picks.1658/
There is also a good Youtube video here:
Mine had the plastic "honeycomb" filler covers in place when I bought the truck. I ordered the hooks and new trim...
Good thread. I'm another believer in CB radio. I keep a small rig with a magnet mount antenna in my work car (Ford Fusion) and it comes in handy quite often.
Has anyone seen a "no-drill" hood channel mount for antennas? I'd prefer to use a fixed antenna mount over a magnet mount.
I've actually seen one of these on the road. Confused the heck out of me at first especially the "Ram 150" badges. Retro can be cool, but I think this misses the mark.
Ordered- 2/28/19
VIN & D1- 3/4/19
JS/KZ- 4/2/19 (not completely sure, but this was the date on the inspection sheet taped inside the glove box)
Delivered to dealer in Central Ohio- 4/5/19
The funny thing with my build is that RamChat and the dealer still thought the truck was in D1 as late as...
