Curious just to make sure this is the only spot I have a leak:
Wondering if I could take vice grips or c-clamp and try to tighten the gap to see if that reduces the noise. Anyone tried that or anyone think that would be a bad idea? I would not be leaving the vice grips/c-clamp on and driving...
Add me to the list. I thought maybe I had an exhaust manifold crack or stud on the heat shield snap but turns out those are good. As you've all mentioned, this is NOT covered under power train nor does my extended warranty cover exhaust issues.
That all said, it sounds like its an easy fix...
I found the broken bolt after I got the truck back last night. Looking on the Mopar website, I can't seem to find the bolts (seen as #9 in screenshot) to purchase. Any ideas where I can get these or what size they are so I can buy at the hardware store? I found the gasket, $12 on Mopar. Pretty...
Finally spoke with the dealer today. Turns out its the union flange between the converter and muffler and the bolts/nut broke off. I assume from rust as the car was owned in Michigan prior to me buying it. This is not covered by the power train warranty from Ram OR my extended warranty. I may...
Dropped it off this morning and explained what was going on. The service rep immediatly said what we all know, these are notorious for a broken stud on the heat shield or possibly a crack in the manifold. He started it up and leaned down by drivers side wheel and said "yup, sounds like the stud...
I can smell exhaust near the front of the truck. I'm taking it in on Monday to get a seat frame replaced and passenger power fold mirror, I'll see if they can check it out since I'm only at 45K.
I'm fairly certain I have this issue based on sound. I'm at 45K miles so it should be covered under the power train warranty. That said, is this easy to get on eyes on and see the crack? I'd like to get a picture of it to show the dealer when I go back soon to get some extended warranty work...
Does the ticking go away after 30 secs or so? My truck is pretty loud at startup when its cold but then it quiets down after about 30 seconds. Not sure if I have this same problem or not.
You have any pics of yours installed? Also, how often do you change batteries? For my use, I wouldn't have this on for more than 5-10 minutes but I'm guessing the hot/cold would wear the batteries down more than use.
So how hard am I hitting the bolts? I took the latch off and reinstalled the bolts so they are sticking out just a bit but I don’t think it’s moving too much. I might just be scared of hitting them too hard.
So I removed the latch and then put the bolts almost all the way in and used a small 2x4 to hit the bolts. I can’t tell if it really moved them inwards. The door feels like it shuts a little better but I can still see the door sticking out at the bottom. I’m afraid to hit them too hard. For...
My driver rear door has never felt like it shuts solid, thats how I would describe it. After looking closely, it appears the rear door is sitting lower than the driver. I'm not sure if adjusting the striker would help in this case but I'm curious to everyone's thoughts and if anyone has this...
So unfortunately, they wouldn't perform the TSB since they can't reproduce the noise at the moment. This is because I got new tires about a month ago. They said if it starts doing it again bring it back in and they can push the update. I was hoping they would do it but they didn't seem familiar...
Took mine to the dealer this morning to have this done. Ever since I changed tires it hasn't happened but I know it will come back so I asked them to do it. They are also fixing my mirror that pops when it unfolds and my loose passenger seat.
That's the part I'm struggling with. If its a software update, it seems like new tires would no effect but you're right, new tires and no issue...for now.
