It almost looks like a form of vandalism. How deep would you estimate the scratches to be? I would think a fingernail could "catch" the scratches when moved across. If the scratches are within 1/32", they can be removed without distortion.
Depending on how severe the damage is to the glass, it can be professionally removed and polished out without distortion. I have all the equipment and supplies, and have been doing this on my vehicles glass for years. There are glass contractors who limit their jobs to just this kind of work. If...
Unfortunately this seems to be the case when cold plastic panels contact each other. Fortunately, I don't have many ticks and clicks in my Longhorn when it's cold, but when it's warm out and the plastics expand, it's deadly quiet. The most noticeable tick/click involved the rear view mirror...
Yes, definitely do the leak test as I explained earlier. Make sure the truck is leaning to the Right, and with the water running very slow, work your way to the Left along the top edge of the glass. It could be a hidden crack in the plastic frame, or it could be an area void of urethane sealer...
Did you silicone the area in the cargo light recess that you photographed? I would use a garden hose with a slow flow of water, and start on one side, moving slowly across between the glass and cab. It would help if the truck was leaning slightly to the right (park on a slight incline) then...
Since you have addressed the third brake light and shark fin already, I would clean along the top of the rear window assembly, let it dry a few days, the apply "flowable" silicone along the top (between the glass and cab); also, concentrate on the area in your pictures. It's got to be either the...
Exactly! The best cleaners for delicate foam backed headliner material, are FOAM type. IF NEEDED, a very soft natural bristle paint brush can be used gently, by dabbing the stain; then, between the "lifting" of the foam and agitation of the brush, the suction from a vaccume will "pull" the...
As long as they don't "scrub" the fabric with a brush while cleaning, which will make it fuzzy; instead, a wet vac should be used to extract any water/moisture/cleaning solution. In using suction, there is a near zero chance of a "water line" between the wet and dry areas on the headliner when dry.
Okay, so I pressed once again, on various places around the mirror cover and panel; not one creak, so additional felt is not necessory. Today was in the high 60's, and not one creak anywhere in the truck! Obviously when the weather is cold, there is a chance of creaks due to the plastics...
It amost looks like the back of the cushion was not pulled taught, then secured to the bottom of the seat frame. I've done countless seat cushion replacements over the years, and looseness / bagginess, is usually the result of not stretching enough, along with improper attaching techniques.
Don't use anything too aggressive on the chrome bumpers, as the plating is VERY thin. I used chrome polish on the front bumper on a 2013 Bighorn that I had; a few light rubs with a soft cloth, and I was down to the copper plating! Fortunately, that truck was a buy back, so I didn't have to live...
Thanks Mark for following this. Unfortunately, I still detect a slight creak, and will add some felt on a few more areas. Will post again after that with the results.
I discovered a deep scratch in the passenger side B Pillar grab handle, so rather than wait forever for the part from the dealer, I ordered it, as it was under 4.00. Has anyone removed this cover, and if so, how did they go about it? The replacement has long clips and a "T" hook, which looks...
Strictly "touch free" wash. It doesn't get it perfectly clean, but in between hand washes, at least it keeps it presentable and no risk of scratches and swirl marks.
"LA's Totally Awesome" is a great all around cleaner, and it's super inexpensive. Been using it for decades. Dollar Tree and Dollar General carry it, and Dollar Tree has the large refill size; for 1.00.
UPDATE ON THE CREAK. It was quiet the first time I took it out for a drive; then a few days later it started creaking again. I again pressed on the cover in various areas, and could not get a creak out of it, until I pressed the right side toward the center panel; I then found the creak. I...
I remember having an issue with the steering wheel being off center on a new 1989 Chevrolet Scottsdale that I bought. I took it back to the dealer and after checking the alignment on the rack, the mechanic removed the center cap and nut on the steering wheel, called me over, and showed me that...
