Have a 2021 Laramie crew 4x4 and just noticed an oil leak with only 1500 miles. Looks like it is coming from above the oil filter. Doesn't appear to be leaking from the filter gasket but above it, like the top part of the flange that the filter butts up to. not sure what that part is called? Stopped at the closest dealer on the way to work this morning and the guy said they weren't making appointments because they were so behind and short staffed. Said it would be a week or more before they could look at it and to just drive it and come back. Can't really believe they told me that but... Made an appointment with a different dealer for tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

Went by different dealer today for my appt. Service advisor said they are behind 2 weeks and have no rentals... ha. He told me to come back saturday b/c they do first come first serve on Saturdays so I guess I will try that. He looked at where the oil is coming from and said looks like the oil cooler. To me it looks like the oil filter mount, not sure if that is the cooler? Anyone know how involved that is as far a a fix if that is the problem?

There's been discussions on whether that's an oil cooler or not. I've owned other engine types with similar devices, and they were considered oil coolers.

How much oil have you lost?

Did you see oil dripping to the ground or how did you notice the leak?
Noticed some oil drops on the ground where I had parked then crawled under to see if it was leaking and sure enough it is.

Maybe a few drops once I park, enough to make a nickle size wet spot. It hasn't leaked enough to move it on the dipstick since I noticed it a few days ago. I started checking it couple times a day now. Wonder if the ram cares folks could help put with speeding up the fix?

Fixed it for you. That's how you get @RamCares attention.

I had a couple of drops recently on mine. Turns out it was actually the filter itself that was leaking. I was due for an oil change anyway and afterwards, no issues.

Managed to find a dealer today about 30 miles away that had a cancelation tomorrow so I'm taking to them tomorrow afternoon.

Sometimes the filter can losen ever so slightly and start to leak. I've had it happen a couple times on this Ram and also the last one.

Update. Went to the dealer that could get me in and they said it was leaking at the oil temp sensor. They had the part and replaced it. Hopefully that was the fix and I'll have no more issues from it.

I had the same type of oil leak, dealer thought it was the oil cooler above the filter so they replaced. Still had the leak and it turned out to be a oil psi sender right above the cooler. Sensor was only hand tight so they ended up replacing the sensor.

Glad you got it sorted.

(Above was my edit, because I had not noticed your fix.)

So far so good on my fix. Thanks
