So I got the dash light pieces today and installed them. I've included pics of the dash before and after. the part numbers I used were two of the 68312667AC and one 68291948AC. Came in at just under $60 after tax. I would obviously look for the harnesses before buying the parts. Mine were hidden taped up inside around the main harnesses. :) Hope this helps and good luck!!

I understand that ‘21 Laramies seem to be missing the dash lighting… anyone know about the ‘21 Limited? My ‘21 Limited is fully loaded and I have all ambient lighting except the 3 dash lights. 🤷‍♂️ Such a shame as I like it on my ‘19 Longhorn.

Didn't hear of them doing the limited's dirty like that... If you're missing them but have the rest the wiring is probably there just taped up. you'll need to get those 3 pieces that i have listed though. :)

Appreciate the response. I may as well try to get the dealer to figure it out and fix it. Could have just been missed during the build.

Just as another confirmation, it should have them. My 21 longhorn does and I haven't heard of any other longhorn/limiteds not coming with them.

If I don’t have the second dial, is this the switch I need?

Anyone know if a truck that doesn’t have the second rotary switch even has the plugs? I looked this morning and don’t see them anywhere.

Doesnt look like you do. You can add the switch with the two rollers and the lights like I did. I programmed mine with alphaobd..

Do you happen to the know the part number for the harness? Does it have three led connectors wired into it already? Where did you connect it to the truck?

I used this harness 68340400AD clipped the connector thats different and hard wired it to the led light under the dash above the foot pedals. The harness has four connectors three of them are the same those three are for the lights they are plug and play the fourth one will have to be cut and spliced its just two wires.. The harness will fit perfectly it locates all the lights were they should go.. I did add the second wheel headlight switch and programmed it with alphaobd as well..

Thanks! I’ll have to double check but I think the light in my footwell only comes on with the courtesy and not ambient.

Do you remember what you changed in Alfa?

Ok you may need to find another connection my truck is a Lonestar level 2 so it had the ambient lights under the dash that stay on at night. I tied into them after I figured out I could change to the 2 wheel headlight switch pretty easily. I think it was 2 changes in alpha. I just searched ambient lights in alpha under the body controller and it popped up.

My harness ends were taped up in the main like the one you have pictured here. feel around inside the tape. It might actually be there. It was taped up on it tight. It didn't look like it was in there. Had to cut the tape back to get it out. (like a mummy) Not 100% sure yours will have them since your truck didn't come with the ambient lighting package. But it's worth another look. :)

So I installed the missing ambient lights in the dash yesterday and wish I wouldn't have wasted my time. All the plugs were there but they were VERY well hidden. The left side one was a PIA to find. On mine it was taped to the main harness and completely wrapped up but it was in the part of the harness that is behind the instrument cluster and the wire was sandwiched between the dash and a brace. I had to remove the instrument cluster and a couple of screws behind the cluster in order to pull out the dash enough to free the wire after getting it cut out of where it was taped inside of the harness. The harness for the light above the glove box was actually taped inside of the main harness but down towards the floor. Unplugging the 8.4 was a pain because the antennae leads were not long enough to pull the unit out far enough to actually see behind it. You had to work blind to unplug them but once they were unplugged you could pull the unit out far enough to work comfortably on the rest of the connectors. The lighting itself is underwhelming.

Can you post some pics of your dash at night lit up? If you look farther up in the thread I have before and after of mine. I heard some people have to slightly open up their slits a litter more to allow the light to come through better. That might be all you need to get it where you want it. :)

I'll post some later. I don't think opening the slits is going to help much as you can look up and clearly see the leds are not blocked in any way but it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. I'm more disappointed in the light above the glove box more than anything as the light output is very uneven.

For others wanting to do this. Ram really hid the plugs on my 21

The left hand plug was located and taped behind the gauge cluster

The right hand plug was tapped to the main harness below the glovebox

The center one was oddly easy, and tapped to the start switch harness
