295 or 285 tires for 20inch Ram rim - Discussion

Anyone one have any recommendations / pictures of your truck having 295/60r20 or 285/60r20 tires. I know there is not a huge difference in height between the two. A 285 will ride "lighter" than a 295, yet the 295 looks better/meatier. Just curious to what width majority of yall are putting on these 20 inch rims, and the quality of the ride.

If you are going with the stock height...you may be able to get away with 11.5 width...not sure if 12.5 width is possible without spacers.
I have a 2.5in level and am running 285/65R20 at 34.6 height and 11.2 width.
I feel like the 285 Nitto’s ride better then the stock 275 tires...

I plan on getting the ready lift 2inch level when I get new tires put on, so not worried about that. The 285's from your pictures look like they fit pretty well. Do you by chance have a picture of the side that shows how much the tire takes up in the wheel well? From previous experience I think 285s ride 100 times better than 295s but that is just me.

Truck looks good. Those tires to me fit perfect. Not too tight and not to small. Do you feel any tension when you turn the wheel full lock? The reason I’m asking is I work downtown and park in a parking garage and turning can get tight at sometimes.

A lot of 285 width tires are LT tires and require higher air pressure which gives you a lower ride quality. Just be careful and read the specs.

I'm wrestling between the 275's and the 285's Ridge Grapplers...I'm getting the Rough Country 2" Level and I have the Off Road Package...with the 285s being wider I'm guessing the ride would be a little better.

So I for sure can get the 285's on 2'' level without any rubbing???

This is a 295/60R20 on stock 20" wheels. No spacers & zero rubbing. I do have a 2" Rough Country Level Kit.

285/60/20. Debated on 295. Could not be happier with 285. Fills the gap just enough, but not too stuffed. Only lost about 1.8mpg after recalibration. I have 2 inch mopar/fox lift.

This is a 295/60R20 on stock 20" wheels. No spacers & zero rubbing. I do have a 2" Rough Country Level Kit.

I think it rides just fine. I would honestly say it rides slightly rougher than the stock Bridgestone Duelers but... to be expected with a much harder compound tire and I run 40 PSI in the new tires. The look far exceeds any thing you sacrifice in comfort. It still rolls down the highway and handles perfect!

I just installed 295/60 R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on a 2" level, and had to pop off the piece of trim on the bottom of the wheel well. Was very surprised as I read and saw many posts from guys running this set-up with no rubbing. No air suspension.

I installed 295/60 R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers too. But I put a 3"spacer on front end with 1" spacer in rear to level and didn't have to trim anything and have no rubbing at all. But I went with a
+1 offset on the rim.

My wheels are +1 offset too! Fuel Contra 20x9 +1....and I think I am still getting a little rubbing depending on the angle of the turn and elevation.

I Just put 285/60r20 Cooper AT3 XLT on my 2019 Big Horn after a rough country 2" level. They fill the wells nice but I think the 295 would have brought the tire out flush with the fenders and filled it perfectly. Many reviews claimed the 285 rides much nicer than the 295 which also played a big role in my decision. They are extremely quiet and improved my handling and have not noticed any negative effects to the ride quality. They currently sit about 1/2" inside the wheel well which is nice for future stones but the look of the 295 would have been perfect. I chose ride quality over looks though I had to base the 295 ride quality off reviews, do not have personal experience to back up the statements as I have never run 295's. I am extremely happy with the final result.

I did a 275 55 20 set up with BFG KO2s on Fuel wheels. I needed to keep the overall height consistent with OE 22” set up. The ride is unaffected by the change so all is good.
