Will be interesting to see how this goes.

Whoever it was at Ram who selected the trucks to send should be fired.

Looks like the Longhorn was optioned with tow mirrors, so no 360 camera.

And looks like the Rebel was sent without a trailer brake controller. Stupid to leave that inexpensive of an option out for a competition which will included towing 7500 lbs.

Neither look to have air suspension, surprisingly. I would have expect at least one of them to have that class exclusive feature.

Yeah, sure seems like they may still not know about the mirrors.

The Rebel should have been ready to do it all, excellently.

Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Thanks for posting this @Rustydodge

should have at least given them the new rebel 12 edition... just my opinion.

Yeah i thought about that too, but i think it is good they didn't. They asked for 2 trucks - luxury and offroad. The 8.4 in the rebel is plenty and IMO better than the competition already, 12" would have been overkill and would hurt in the MSRP comparison for the offroad trucks. Good to see the "standard" 8.4 vs the 12 in the comparison.

Interesting that they did actually weigh the trucks. @Zeronet we might get some actual weights.

I am sure the Ram loses in the drag race...but will be interesting how that changes with payload and a trailer.

Considering it's pitted against the HO 3.5 ecoboost and 3 6.2s, it probably wont finish well in the track testing. Not sure how their scoring algorithm is set up, but that may keep Ram from winning regardless.

I sure hope the 392 and 426 Hemi get into these trucks soon. The SRT Durango is a towing beast and fast as heck. The TRX will be awesome, but the towing and payload tests will be on the low side I am sure. Maybe the TR will get to keep some.

It sure looks like this will go to the GM camp, unless that Ford really is a big deal.

But I think they will still be talking about the Ram in a good way after the test.

Its going to be interesting comparison for sure.

I still think that limited TR prototype https://www.allpar.com/news/2018/10/hot-but-not-hellcat-426-hemi-powered-ram-tr-on-its-way-42491 is Rams answer to Ford putting the HO 3.5 in the limited, even though there is no indication from anyone that Ram will bring anything prior to Q3 2020. But that date was specifically for the TRX.

We'll see TRX in June 2020, but will we see the TR or a bigger NA V8 in the DT before then? That would be a more effective 1-2 punch IMO.

I agree.

Would have been interesting since they specifically asked for an offroad truck, that Ram would have sent a 2wd truck with the Dana Super 60 for the towing and payload section.

Ram still has lots up its sleeve.

Very interesting point is that none of the weights had to be adjusted for each truck as all are equally capable.

4000 feet isnt too bad of a height so the gasoline motors should have worked well.

Will be interesting to see how the Rebel without trailer brakes fares coming down the hill. But on a helping hand, their trailer broke and the uhaul one that replaced it would have had surge breaks. So maybe it lucked out and won't be as noticeable.

Anxiously awaiting the judge's tally. They snuck day 5 in.

Sounds like all the trucks did well, and it is gonna be a close one

Yeah this is one of the more important, in-depth comparisons for trucks. Better than motortrend although each seem to focus on different things. Better than TFL since it is more comprehensive than just towing up a mountain or elevation MPG. Better than fourwheeler since it is more than just offroad.

Really can't tell much until we get to dive into the numbers, Even if Ram doesn't win due to performance, for example, an entry level buyer who woudln't afford the 6.2 or HO 3.5 should consider the 5.7 can be had in a base model truck.

I agree 110 percent. This shows how equally matched 1500 trucks are. This will really show where each one shines.

And I am sure Ram is watching...to see where their improvement needs to be.

From this forum you see some pretty repetitive issues. With having a very new workforce and a new line I am sure Ram thinks they are hitting the mark of trucks built per issue.

More training and more supplier accountability will help that.

Hopefully they see the 6.2 and the 3.5 as the "halo" truck. They then make one...not the TRX either. They know from the demon and hellcat that 700 and 800 hp cars sell those V6 cars.

Good times to be an automotive fan, regardless of brand, car, SUV, truck, performance or mileage.

Glad Ram is working on exciting stuff just like Dodge and Jeep.
