Problems with 2019 Laramie... so far

Mirrors do not hit....

Roll down your windows and use the autofold, you still will hear the clunk of the mirror regardless if they are up or down. I have a feeling some people are replacing the mirrors despite actually not having an issue with them.

Only issue so far on my truck is the clunk or rattling on crappy roads. I have to get it fixed, but haven't found time to schedule an appointment yet. I really need to do that.

Took delivery of a fully loaded Laramie Longhorn on February 27 2019. So far my new acquisition has spend nearly as much time inside the dealership than in my driveway. Because of the currency exchange rate back here in Canada, this is an $80,000+ toy.

1) Issues with the Auto-restart feature. Upon releasing the gas pedal the truck put itself on "park" and the engine needs to be restarted. Apparently it was related to a faulty cam shaft rotation sensor. Can't tell if that fixed the issue I had to return the truck for other issues after 5 miles of driving .
2) Persistent vibration felt through the steering wheel and throttle pedal between 1500 and 1800 rpm. It happens regardless of the speed but it is more obvious at hwy cruise speed because the engine is under higher load
3) A red battery warning lights up after 3 to 4 stop and go. The guys at the shop are searching for this. Related to the E-torque?
4) Can hear road noise from the back of the cabin as if no insulation is installed and the rear wheel bearings are worned out. Sounds like my 1st generation pick-up trucks after 950,000 miles . Never heard that from my 2015 Ram Sport edition. Is it related to the Active Noise Cancellation thing? FCA are supposed to come up with a new CPU flash to correct this sometime in March.
5) There is a persistent growling noise coming from the front end power train. Souds like the tire is rubbing agains the mud guard but we checked and there is no contact. Noticeable at low speed (in a parking lot) when shifted on 4WD High. Worst when turning left. Never heard that from my 2015 Ram Sport edition.

The least of my problem is yes, the mirrors are touching the windows but to this point, I don't care. The 19 speakers Harmon-Kardon system sounds good but I feel that the 11 speakers Alpine system in my former 2015 Ram sounded better. I never noticed any clonk noise when starting but I will keep a close ear to that. The heated steering wheel doesn't get warm, it gets HOT. Without gloves I must turn it off after 15 minutes otherwise I can barely hold the steering firmly.

On a positive note, I'm impressed by the new suspension. The ride is so smooth compare to the previous model which was already impressive. The engine/transmission combination is still perhaps the best combination on the market. I just love that 8 speed transmission and 400 hp powerhouse. The trim level of Longhorn interior finish is astonishing. Thanks for removing that pesky radio antenna off the right fender. The LED lighting is on a class of its own.

I just hope that FCA manages to fix the above issues so I could sleep at night thinking that I've made the right choice and think that they have created a fabulous machine.

My folding mirrors sound like they really hit hard but apparently they do not. I had read in a previous thread that it looks like they are touching the window but there is space there. (they may touch when you hear that slight "thud." I had the mirrors folding in and then let the window all the way down and there is a slight space between the window and mirror when you check it . Mine work perfectly.
Same here. Sounds like they touch the window, but in fact, they do not.

I had to go check this and they don't hit even though it sounds like it. Thanks for the information.

I really Love the new truck, but the new truck is certainly having some teething pains. While I’m at it I’ll list all the other issues I have noticed in the first 1300 miles of ownership.
1. Both front seat covers were not attached to the front of the seat frame. Easy fix.
2. Intermittent Clunk on startup.
3. Clunk below drivers foot while turning over unleveled pavement.
4. While rolling through low speed corners, the truck slams into first gear violently jerking the truck. This only occurs if I almost stop before accelerating. There is some play in the rear end or transfer case that I’m sure isn’t helping.
5. Slight wine in the transfer case or front differential when in 4 auto.
6. Minor rattle with the drivers air conditioner vent.
7. Poor AC performance compared to my 2012 Ram 1500. I estimate about 85% capacity compared to my previous Ram. I have installed ceramic tint which helped, but it’s definitely a weaker system.
8. Passenger rear door makes a rattling sound when closing.
9. Occasional lifter rattle on startup.
10. Excessive wind noise from drivers window pillar seal area.

I plan to present all these issues to the dealership soon, however most of the real issues are so intermittent, I know the chances are slim it will act up for the tech. I’m hoping that those that have some of the same issues that occur more frequently will share their resolutions.

Thanks in advance!
Hello -- This is my first post. I have a RAM 1500 Laramie that I bought "used" with 200 miles on it. Like everyone else here, I love the truck. Perusing your list, the #4 item on the list in this prior post caught my eye. I am having random clunking in the rear and am poised to take it to the dealer, but thought I'd see if the knowledge base here could help. We tow ours behind our Class A coach for extended travel (in fact, I have more towing miles on this truck than road miles, so far). I know that there is a lot going on - drive train-wise - during towing prep & subsequent reinstatement of the drive train, once we reach our destination. I can hear and sometimes "feel" the rear re-engaging and sometimes it feels a bit rough. And, sometimes as I drive it - as it downshifts, then re-accelerates, the rear will "slap" or "clunk", but intermittently. Normal? Part of the wonders of 4-wheel drive train driving & towing? Anyway, if anyone has any insight or experience on this matter, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My name is Ramon De Jesus and I would like to piggyback off the problems other owners are having with their side view mirros. My driver side mirror has been replaced twice and the passenger side once. The most recent replacement was less than 3 weeks ago and the problem just started again on the driver side. I don't belive the mirros are the problem and maybe RAM needs to start looking at other possibilities. My Vin number is 1C6SRFHT8KN541312 and my email [email protected] in case you would like to get back to me. Thanks

Hi Lydia. I am experiencing a couple of the same issues as listed in this thread. I intend to schedule service with my dealer Nyle Maxwell in Taylor Texas. My main concern is the surge/clunk that is getting worse from my transmission/torque converter upon slowing to a stop and upon brake release from a stop. It's quite disconcerting now. I have approximately 15K miles and this issue has been going on for about a month.
I too have the loud clunk on cold start pretty much every morning.
Please let me know what you can do.
Best, Darren

Did you ever get an appt and have this looked at. I’ve actually filed a case with NCDS. Mine vibrates/shakes when slowly coming to a stop or easing off the brake...like when in slow moving traffic, etc. My brakes are also still squealing after TSB fixes! I never get a resolution. It’s unfortunate for you, but at least I see some others having same issues. I also have the intermittent loud startup clunk!

Hi my name is Val, I bought a 2019 ram 1500 LARAMIE 4x4 and am experiencing a few issues noted here as well.

First, yes my mirrors touch with a noticeable thud when folding but don't swing back and forth continuesly. I also have the clunk when starting it does it maybe 85% of the time but hard to reproduce on que. Today I went fishing and tried the 4x4 for the first time. When switching to 4x4 auto I get a vibration at take off which goes away after reaching cruising speed. When switching back to 4x2 from 4x4 I get a jerk, not exactly sure what's going on there but I'm taking it in to dealership tomorrow for the driver side mirror that is loose and vibrates when driving, I will certainly bring up the 4x4 thing.

I'm coming from a 2014 Ford F150 Black Ops version that had differential issues that the extended warranty company didn't want to fix because my truck was lifted even tho they sold the truck to me that way. Ford tried to blame my tires but I changed them and still had the issue so ford said it was the configuration. Lol, anyways I don't think the issues I'm having are that serious yet and I'm hoping dodge fixes them and doesn't make me regret switching to dodge. Cheers!
