Not a direct comparison but I have 33.5s on mine with 3.21 standard hemi and it’s towing 7500lbs regularly with no problems. In fact, my truck is rated for just over 8k towing from the factory and towing 7500 makes me think it can pull 10k no problem. I won’t ever test that, but good to know.

The transmission has a 4.71 first gear. A 35"/3.21 is the same as a 32"/2.93 or 33"/3.02. Those are still massive ratios coupled with that first gear. About what the old 6-speed would have been with a 4.10 gear.

I haven't tried it yet but that makes me more comfortable knowing. Thanks

I pull a 6500lb TT with 3.21's. I just lock out 7th and 8th if pulling in a hilly area. I also run 35" tires. Trailer brakes help a lot btw.

I noticed yesterday in tow-haul mode it seems to lock-out 8 th gear already. But I haven’t gotten past 60 mph. I was testing the tranny auto gear selection in tow mode, and not in tow mode. Tow mode just seemed to drop down a gear or two quicker, which is as anticipated. Yes, using the gear limiter to 6th gear is a great idea for hilly towing, but in tow-haul mode I suspect it’s going to be dropping down gears pretty nicely anyway. I tow with a 3.21, no problem. 6000 lbs yesterday, in Vermont hills.

In tow/haul the computer likes the rpm at 1900. So whatever gear is needed to achieve that is what it’ll stop at.

Dean: quick question: (probably covered in another thread, but I’ll ask anyway) how did you get the speedometer and tranny reprogrammed for the 35’s? Does the Ram still have the old interchangeable mechanical gear stick for the speedo? (I doubt it).
