My 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab short box has an annoying growl coming from the brakes as I slowly back out of my driveway and then tap the brake pedal. This is loud and makes it sound as if the rotors are stuck or the emergency brake is on. What the hell is this? I mentioned this to a Service Writer at my dealership and he casualty put me off with "yeh I have other owners saying this is happening and maybe FCA will issue a recall to fix it". That's a dumb answer. I will speak to the Service Manager tomorrow to elevate this. Seems like every week brings a new problem on this $65K+ rig?

Mine do the same thing until they are hot it seems. Sometimes it's really bad. Pretty embarrassing for a brand new truck. Lol

Look in the TSB section, 05-001-19. I took mine to the dealer last week, they could not recreate the issue, so they did nothing. Now with a little digging, I see that there is this TSB and they even use the exact description I told the service writer. I am going to the service manager and handing him this TSB I have printed to make his job easier and get my truck fixed. Man dealerships suck!

Mine is not a high pitch squeal as the TSB notes. It's more of a low frequency "groan" when I first back out of my driveway. This is not brake pad or rotor squeal.
Sounds like something else has developed a rust coating overnight and it needs to rub off. It's gone in a few seconds and is not only present when using the brakes.

I’ve got the groan too. Only backing up and only the first time of the day. I’m wondering if it’s where the parking break is setting, sitting over night, and not fully releasing until you put some speed on the rotors.

Then again, I’ve wondered if the brakes drag all the time causing the squeals and bad fuel economy

Where can I find a copy of TSB 05-001-19?

I have this issue too. I haven’t been too concerned but at some point I will have them look at it. I haven’t had a reason to go to the dealer yet.

Finally! Thanks for posting this. I just booked an appointment with my dealer. They said the parts would be in next week. I can't wait to get this done

I have the same issue but front and back and I agree lots of noise coming from a 55k truck with only 1300 miles on it. I will take the TSB to the dealer. Thanks for the info

I had my dealer look at it this week when I had the truck in for my second long list of problems since I've owned it. The dealer ordered the TSB parts and they should be in next week. I don't know how an experienced car manufacturer screws up brakes...they are so basic.

Just got my 2019 Crew cab Big horn 4x4. Love the truck but got same issue with brakes. Makes an annoying growl noise when I come out of my drive way slowly use brakes. This happens first thing in morning and during the first part of my commute to work. As truck gets warm noise seems to go almost all the way but doesn't. I took it to back to dealer and they mentioned inspection shows brakes were good. What could this be? Is it the pads?

That's ridiculous..... Perhaps you should change dealers .... They are well aware that there is a problem with the brakes both backing up/growling and moving forward/squealing... there is supposedly a new brake pad out that will fix the issues

They put new pads and rotors on my truck. It was good for about two months; now it makes noise again. I'll wait until Raybestos makes EHT pads for the 2019 Ram and give those a shot; it doesn't look like MOPAR can figure out how to make quiet brakes.

Mine has been doing the same thing since new, all TSBs have been performed and it continually gets worse. Used to only be first thing in the morning and now it’s 90% of the time. Both the dealer and Ram have told me to get bent and they’re not fixing it anymore because brake warranty was out at 12k miles even though problem has been documented since new. They had the pickup for TWO MONTHS and couldn’t find a fix. Unreal.

I am also having the same brake growling problem when backing out of my driveway at a slow speed. It only does it in reverse and after the vehicle has sat for a while. It happens every day! It can be pretty loud.
