    Upgraded This Week :)

Turned in my 2019 Big Horn Crew Cab lease for a 2021 Laramie Crew Cab :). Only had it a couple of days but enjoying the extra bells and whistles I didn't have before. Ordered the Airlift 1000HD bags again and will have them installed hopefully next week before I pull the camper for (probably)...

    CAT Scale blues?

Ok...we have an update. Installed the new Husky Centerline TS hitch a few days ago. Install went fairly well, except for the fact they want the shank bolts torqued to 380 ft-lbs...really? Yeah. Put a couple of cheaters on some breaker bars with sockets and put a bit of my weight down on...

    CAT Scale blues?

Thanks for all your comments and words of encouragement. I kinda thought I'd get blasted lol...but I was prepared for anything. It's also nice to see others thinking this through in a similar way as I am...sorry guys, you're now just as crazy :) I just ordered a Husky Centerline TS with the...

    CAT Scale blues?

Yeah, I've been on the Forest River forum since 2010. I'm sure there would be quite a "debate" if I posted those numbers :) In the past 20 years I can tell you that I've towed setups that probably had much worse ratios than what I have now. It's pretty close now, though.

    CAT Scale blues?

Funny I was having a similar discussion with my wife about looking for some things to move into the trailer near the axles. Unfortunately there IS a lot o f heavier items up in the front pass-through storage area...I'm sure that's added a bit to the tongue weight. I just don't feel like the...

    CAT Scale blues?

I've not weighed yet for "official" tongue weight but Forest River specs it at 702lbs...I'm guessing slightly more than that. The 6440lb trailer weight is well under the 7373lb GVWR, as well.

    CAT Scale blues?

Well, we finally made our first out-of-town trip this season with the camper and RAM. Towed around 350-400 miles round trip from Cincinnati to London, KY. While on our way South, we diverted for lunch and to waste time to try and stay out of traffic from a bad crash on I-75 near Renfro Valley...

    5.7 Exhaust Drone

Mine just started doing this today. Build date 9-18. Got it 12-31-18...only 1600 miles. Guess I'll monitor it and have it taken care of with the recalls. Love this forum and the members! Knew I'd find info on this :) Thanks!!

    CAT scale trip

Johnvan, I also thank you for the info :) I'm planning to hit a local scale this weekend or early next week. Still tweaking my setup and having the Air Lift bags installed...yet again...install #4 (3 bag/nozzle failures, argh). Appreciate the post!!

    Camping, tent, travel trailer, HAMMOCK

Had the local shakedown trip this past weekend. Felt good to get out and enjoy the camper and a couple of campfires . Couple of the kids on spring break this week, so back out to a local campground tomorrow for a four night stay. Unfortunately, I still have to work...but it's close enough to...

    First Camping of 2019

Camper is a 2019 Vibe Extreme Lite 261BHS. Was approx 5,800lbs from the factory and is towing at 32' 10" total...believe the box is 28 1/2'. I'm hoping to get to a local CAT Scale soon and see if that can't help me figure out what's going on. Air Lift bags get re-installed, again (3rd time)...

    First Camping of 2019

Thanks :). Been chomping at the bit to get out. Two nice days of camping with some chilly (high 20s, low 30s) temps at night. Had a blast and gave me chance to shakedown things before this week's trip. To answer your question about tires. They are the Nexen Roadian HTX RH5. 275/55R20 Max...

    First Camping of 2019

Greetings, We had our first 2-night camping trip of the season this weekend. Just a local campground and not far to go...thankfully. Still fighting my tow setup. This was by far my worst experience ever towing and I've towed numerous popups and travel trailers for more than 20 years...

    Shopping for a new camper

I should prob also add that my “real” numbers from the RV lot were closer to 6,000lbs. We also stock it pretty well :) Probably another 500-700 lbs. (or more). I do plan to hit the local CAT scales when the weather gets better to see how everything looks and is distributed.

    Shopping for a new camper

I'll be running similar numbers when we finally get into camping season next month. I've had a few opportunities to tow with the new combo...nothing has felt quite right, yet. I leased the RAM, so I didn't want to do any "permanent" suspension upgrades. First thing I found was that the rear...
