A locker, locks the rear axles together. When the diff is locked, both axles will get power, at all times. This is ideal for off road, but undesirable for on road.
An LSD works like an open diff, but engages both axles, when one wheel starts to slip. You're correct, that it doesn't engage...
You're absolutely right. Getting access to the HVAC box requires tearing the dash apart. To my knowledge, only one dealer has attempted the procedure, and they trashed board member Albert193500's new truck. Plus, he said his AC was still messed up, when he got his truck back. He never did...
It is pretty obvious at this point, that FCA does not have an answer, and cannot fix the HVAC issues that are plaguing 5th gens. Therefore, for the unlucky owners that have a crappy AC, there's really only two solutions.

I think the price is average at best. You should be able to get a new truck for 13K to 15K off MSRP. Also, the truck posted has a clean carfax. However, based on the only picture posted of the front end, I have a sneaky suspicion it's had body work to the front. I would inspect the front end...
I agree with silver64. Sounds like the alternator is getting ready to crap. I know nothing about the Etorque, so maybe that is how it's supposed to sound.
