Ram continues to expand its lineup in Brazil. Over the past two years, Ram has gone from a single model with the Ram 2500 Laramie to a full portfolio of eight vehicles, which include:
- Ram 1500 Rebel
- Ram 1500 Classic Laramie
- Ram 1500 Classic Laramie Night Edition
- Ram 2500 Laramie
- Ram 2500 Laramie Night Edition
- Ram 3500 Laramie
- Ram 3500 Laramie Night Edition
- Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn
Coming off of the launch of the Ram 1500 Classic Laramie, Ram is riding a wave of success in the market. On its launch night alone, Ram sold 1,465 units of the four-generation half-ton pickup. Proving that despite its age, the Ram 1500 Classic can continue to be an important part of the portfolio even outside the North American market.
But according to our friends at the Brazilian automotive site Autos Segredos (Auto Secrets), Ram will continue to expand the lineup within the next couple of months. Back in August, Autos Segredos said that Ram was closely studying the market and the possible sale of the Ram 1500 Limited.
Fast forward to earlier this week, Autos Segredos is stating that Ram will indeed bring the fifth-generation half-ton Limited model to market in the upcoming months. To further back that announcement up, Autos Segredos’ own Marlos Ney Vidal caught the Ram 1500 Limited out testing with a Brazilian-spec Ram 1500 Rebel on public roads.
It looks like the Limited will follow in the footsteps of the Rebel, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 without the eTorque mild-hybrid system seems to be the logical choice. And judging by the badging on the hood of the Limited, it will indeed be the non-eTorque HEMI.
The 5.7-liter HEMI is rated for 400 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque in Brazil and continues to be mated to the 8HP75 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Limited has an exclusive grille design, featuring bi-adaptive LED headlamps, chrome accents, 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with navigation, and power running boards. The particular model caught testing featured the Limited’s optional 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, which we believe will be standard equipment on the Brazil-spec offering.
At the current moment, Ram has yet to announce an official statement.
