For the past several months, 5thGenRams.com and MoparInsiders.com have been breaking down the upcoming Ram Heavy Duty trucks by analyzing spy photos, video, documents and anything else we could get our hands on. We told you how we believed that the upcoming Heavy Duty Rams were updated versions of the current trucks. 5thGenRams.com showed you spy photos of the interior layout of the new trucks as well. We then discussed how we found dealer documents indicating that these new trucks were going to be shown of at the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit as 2019 model year trucks. Now we have some new pictures and video, showing us even more details about the upcoming Ram Heavy Duty trucks.
Our friends at Real Fast Fotography stumbled upon a 2019 Ram 2500 Tradesman prototype, testing at late at night on the very wet roads of Metro Detroit. These photos show us for the first time, an upcoming Ram Heavy Duty truck with minimal camouflage.
We can tell that this particular truck is a Ram 2500, thanks to the (DJ) platform code on the sticker on the rear window. The platform code name for the current Ram 2500 is also (DJ). We can clearly that the cab of this truck clearly matches the current regular cab Ram Heavy Duty.
Like spy photos we showed you several weeks ago, the new Ram Heavy Duty will get tail lamps styled very similar to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. This particular model would be a Tradesman, since the textures of the grille matches 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman models as does the tail lamps.
Up front, it looks that the Ram Heavy Duty retains its big-rig” styling. However, from the A-pillars forward looks like all-new metal. The Ram Heavy Duty keeps its huge grille, while the headlamps are vastly different from the 2019 Ram 1500 models. These headlamps take on a completely different shape and run into the grille from the looks of these images.
Like the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the new Heavy Duty models will get the “ram horns” trim piece that will run above the grille which runs down to the headlights.
The upcoming 2019 Ram Heavy Duty definitely mixes the current Ram styling, with the best of the all-new Ram 1500 technology and flare. We can’t wait to see the truck at NAIAS in January.
Stay tuned to 5thGenRams.com and MoparInsiders.com for all the least Ram Heavy Duty information.
