2026 Ram 1500 REV Limited Caught Testing Ahead of Launch

Electric Power Meets Real Truck Capability

We are getting closer and closer to the official launch of the 2026 Ram 1500 REV, and real-world testing is clearly ramping up. Thanks to MoparInsiders reader and longtime supporter Alex Givens, we now have a fresh look at a Ram 1500 REV Limited prototype that was spotted sitting quietly in a public park during validation testing. While it blended in at a glance, this truck represents one of the most important launches in Ram’s modern history.

At its core, the Ram 1500 REV is designed to push electric trucks beyond commuter duty and into true full-size pickup territory. Ram’s goal isn’t just electrification—it’s delivering range, towing, payload, and usability that truck owners actually expect.

Unlike most electric pickups currently on the market, the Ram 1500 REV takes a range-extended approach. It pairs a liquid-cooled 92-kWh battery pack with an onboard 130-kW generator, powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. Instead of driving the wheels, the engine generates electricity to support the battery and electric drive motors when needed. This setup helps reduce range anxiety while still allowing the truck to operate as an EV for everyday driving.

The result is a projected 690 miles (1,110 km) of total driving range. Power figures are equally impressive, with 647 horsepower (482 kW) and 610 lb-ft (827 Nm) of torque available. Ram estimates a 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) time of around 4.5 seconds, quick by any truck standard.

Ram is making it clear that the REV isn’t giving up truck capability. The electric pickup offers a best-in-class maximum payload rating of 2,625 lbs (1,191 kg) and a best-in-class towing capacity of 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg). Those numbers place it ahead of current electric rivals and firmly in familiar Ram territory.

Charging flexibility is another focus. The REV supports Level 1, Level 2 (240-volt), and Level 3 DC fast charging (400-volt). With DC fast charging at up to 145 kW, owners can add roughly 50 miles (80 km) of range in about 10 minutes, making road trips and workday charging more manageable.

One standout feature is the truck’s ability to supply power when the grid goes down. With onboard energy management and rationing, the Ram 1500 REV can provide backup power for up to 30 days, depending on usage. For contractors, campers, or homeowners dealing with outages, that capability could be a major selling point.

Inside, the REV Limited leans heavily into technology. The cabin features over 50 inches (127 cm) of combined available digital displays, including more than 24 inches (61 cm) of total touchscreen space. A 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 central touchscreen anchors the dash, while an available 10.25-inch passenger display allows the front passenger to stream content, manage navigation, or control entertainment independently.

EV-specific information—such as energy flow, battery levels, charging locations, and drive modes—is displayed through the digital cluster, Uconnect system, and an available head-up display (HUD). Everything is presented in clean, full-color 3D graphics that are easy to understand, even for first-time EV owners.

The Ram 1500 REV offers multiple drive and energy modes, including Electric+, E-Save, and Eco, along with eAWDand eSport performance settings. One-Pedal Driving makes city driving smoother by using regenerative braking to slow the truck while recharging the battery.

Available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist allows hands-off operation on approved highways, maintaining speed, lane position, and following distance using cameras, radar, and sensors.

Ram plans to begin production of the Ram 1500 REV around Q2 2026 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, marking a major milestone for the brand’s electrified future.

As testing continues and more prototypes appear in public, expect additional details to surface. One thing is already clear—the Ram 1500 REV isn’t trying to redefine what a truck is. It’s trying to prove that going electric doesn’t mean giving anything up.
