One of the most anticipated vehicle launches going into the 2021 model year, has to be the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. The TRX is Ram’s answer to the Ford F-150 Raptor and an important piece of the pickup truck puzzle for the Ram Truck brand to directly take on Ford for the No. 1 spot in the pickup market. Since Ram has taken over the No. 2, they have made it no secret they are aiming for Ford’s jugular. It also explains FCA CEO Mike Manley’s response on a possible electrified Ram 1500, to take on the upcoming F-150 electric pickup.
As for the TRX, the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V8-powered off-roader was originally scheduled to make its debut at the 2020 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, back in June. However, due to the venue being resourced as a field hospital, it canceled the show and caused many people to wonder why the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX would make its public debut.
Two months after its original scheduled debut, the Ram 1500 TRX is ready to make its debut. Ram Trucks announced it plans to unveil the new performance-focused off-road pickup with an official will be streamed online and available for public viewing. It should be similar to the launch of the 2021 Dodge performance lineup that took place inside the FCA Conner Center last month.
Ram also released a new teaser trailer for the TRX, to go along with the information of the unveiling. The new teaser shows heavy dust kicked up in the desert, showing its true desert-running intentions.
We can’t wait to get our hands on the new supercharged off-roader. We had a chance back in February to drive, our close friend’s that_guy_from_br’s Hellcat-powered 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel, built with the help of America’s Most Wanted 4×4 in Holly, Michigan. The Hellcat’s performance in the off-road package created a completely different experience than any Hellcat vehicle we have driven before and transformed the Ram into a powerhouse.
For those who can’t wait to see the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, we recently showed off leaked images of the TRX without camouflage. The pictures showed us the specific looks that the Ram 1500 TRX will feature like a widebody kit, a unique grille, performance hood, and flared bedside. Inside, the TRX will get huge paddle shifters, a center column-mounted shifter, performance seats, and additional technology features that will join the other models of 2021 Ram 1500 lineup.
The unveiling is scheduled for Monday, August 17th at 12:00 p.m. EST on RamTrucks.com and the Ram Trucks Facebook page. 5thGenRams.com will also be streaming the event live as well and will be releasing all the details of the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX throughout the day.
